We will first describe how to collect funds from someone's personal or business checking account. The balance of the page will cover the collection of funds via credit card. We allow our customers to make payment from their checking accounts. We offer online e-checks available through a secure site at PayByCheck.  We highly recommend their service.   We also have a software program that allows us to print checks on our own computer - using the information you provide via fax, phone or email.  We can then take the check we printed ourselves to our own bank and deposit it. The second method  is collecting funds via credit card. Another way to accept credit cards is through PayPal.  They provide  instant and secure online payment service. PayPal is recommended by CNET as "the most reliable personal payment service." PayPal was recently named one of the 50 Most Important Private Companies in the World by Red Herring, one of the Top 25 New Companies by Fortune Small Business, and a Forbes Favorite Website in the magazine's latest "Best of the Web" issue.

For a personal account, everything is free at PayPal, but you cannot easily set-up the collection of funds through your web site. If you sign-up for their "business account", the usage fees are low. You pay no set-up fee and only 30 cents plus as low as 2.2% per transaction.

PayPal has detailed information for various ways to collect payments, and you can be 'up and running' very quickly!

The downside of PayPal is that you can only accept credit cards online.  You are not able to take the information by phone, fax or in person, as you can do with a credit card Merchant Account (discussed above).  For this reason, most businesses accept both PayPal AND have a merchant account to accommodate buyers who prefer not to buy directly online. This gives your customers options and increases the likelihood of more sales!
